Within our curriculum we give our children experiences and opportunities to reach their full potential.

Throughout their time at Little Robins we implement the seven areas of learning at all times. The seven areas are

Physical play, Personal Social and Emotional, Communication and Language, Maths, Understanding the world, Literacy and
Expressive Art and Design.

This is mostly done within free play, but we also have other opportunities for them to develop by offering a range of activities during the sessions.

What we offer in our curriculum.

Cooking

This is done multiple times throughout the term. With a range of different recipes for your children to enjoy taking part in. We also send home our recipes for you to continue to enjoy, and extend your childs learning at home.

Gym

Physical exercise is given to our children weekly, this can range from musical movement, balancing, throwing and catching, under and over movements plus many more.

Stretches and cool downs are implented for children to learn how to help their bodies during exercise.

Science

We have experiments for the children to participate in regularly, we use a science curriculum that we follow every half term. This is adjusted and made age appropriate.

We do a variety of different experiments from bubble making, lava lamps, colour mixing, sinking and floating and many more.
The children have lots of fun and love getting involved.

Outdoor play

Not only is this an opportunity for children to use their gross motor skills to their full potential. We offer to promote this by having a slide, bikes, and space to run.

We also have a range of different items for our children to challenge their imaginations and express their gross motor skills. This could be using our mud kitchen, investigation area, balancing on crates or using the wooden planks and bricks making their large creations.

Heuristic Play

This is a child led activity that we offer to our Buttercups group. Adults only intervene when the child has guided them to. Experiencing heuristic play gives the children the chance to explore natural materials and use their imagination in a quiet, relaxing manner. Calming music is played in the background to help enhance the calming environment.

Gardening

Thoughout the year we give the children opportunities to experience gardening. We plant all sorts of things from flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables. When our fruit and vegetables has grown and is ready to pick, we have them for our snack or offer the parents/guardians to take home.

Children love learning the process of how to make things grow, going through all the steps of planting, watering and picking.

We have also been fortunate enough to make our own cook book, with the childrens, and our lovely parents help. The book is about ways to grow and how to implement them into recipes. This is available to buy inside at Little Robins.

Woodwork

Bluebells have the opportunity to experience taking part in woodwork.
The children have a chance to take part in this every half term. We use a variety of tools, such as, saws, screw drivers, hammers and lots of others.

In the past our children have made all sorts of creations using their own imagination. This is all done under adult supervision and on a one to one basis. All safety precautions are always taken place.
