About us

Little Robins pre-school opened in September 2013. We are registered by Ofsted, and we aim to provide the highest quality care and education for children from 2 years to the term they start school. We are very fortunate in having a lovely room in the amazing Alban City School and have use of many other areas within the school such as the hall/gym, theatre and community room. We also have our own outdoor area. We work closely with the school following the same ethos.

Our children are encouraged to learn through play and each child will have their own personal targets set.
Our team consists of highly motivated and skilled staff with lots of experience to help support your child’s learning. We have an extensive range of equipment which we continue to build on.
Every session your child attends we will offer new experiences such as arts, crafts, outdoor play, music, physical play, circle time, cooking, stories, games, and much more. Also, there is a familiar daily routine which will make your child feel comfortable and confident to learn. We regularly review what we do so we can continue to offer the best pre-school care, and education that ensures your child leaves Little Robins excited to further their learning journey.

Our age groups are:

3-5 Years old

(children who are in their final year before starting school.)

These children will be in a group called Bluebells.

As a Bluebell, the children will have huge focus on Maths and Literacy. In preparation for starting school as well as focusing on Personal and Social skills. Communication, Physical Play, Understanding the World, Expressive Art & Design, Science, IT, Cookery, and lots more. We have regular gym sessions, shows in the theatre and we explore the local community often.
Bluebells have a different routine to our Buttercups. This means they will have separate story, circle, snacks and playtime. They will get a chance to explore our outdoor area within their groups. However we have short times where both our groups will mix. This is a great learning opportunity where they can help and guide our younger children.

Learning targets are set for each individual children, depending on their stage of learning. All targets will be shared with their parents and carers.

2 - 3 Year olds

These children will be in a group called Buttercups.

As a Buttercup the children will learn a lot through their play. Activities are planned in an age appropriate way to cover all 7 areas of learning. With our main focus being Personal and social skills, Communication skills and Physical movements. With these main areas, you will find that they help get your children ready for their future of learning.

We give Buttercups lots of opportunities to discover and learn in a way that is best for them, such as, Regular gym sessions where we can use the hall for physical movements, Exploring our local Community, a quiet place for children to take part and explore in Heuristic play, which is a natural resources discovery time.

Our children have separate circle, story, snack and playtimes from our Bluebell group. We have small moments with our Bluebell group. Which gives our children time to learn and observe older peers in their play. Individual learning is planned for each child depending on their stage of development. This will be shared with their parents and carers.
